Song Story - We Wait, Volume 1
"We Wait" is the shortest and the longest song I have ever written (four words, one hour!). There are many songs out there about waiting on the Lord, but I wanted to write one that actually facilitated our waiting--one that placed our hearts before the Lord in a posture of listening and expectancy. Initially, we were just going to do this song as one of the tracks on the Wilderness CD; however, as we jammed it out as a band, worshipping together, we realized we could go for hours down this road. So we decided to put it together as a separate project. Kirk and I have found that instrumental CD's have really enhanced our private worship (it's nice to put down my guitar every once in a while and just soak!); so, this CD is designed for home or small group worship.

For live recordings, it's typical to record a number of performances over a number of days and then take the best performances (or a composite of the best performances). We had two days planned (two takes). The first day went really well -- a keeper first time! So on the second day, we told the musicians and singers, "We already have a keeper from yesterday, so feel free to go for it today. Experiment. Try new things." It worked out really well too -- another keeper! It was so different that we felt it warranted two volumes. Enjoy and be blessed --twice!

Song Story - Whom Have I But You
What am I doing, writing a song story about someone else's song? Don't get confused. David Ruis wrote this song, and it remains my all time favourite. Three weeks after my daughter, Hannah, was born, my marriage fell apart. I'll never forget walking away that day, baby wrapped close to me, bags in hand. I had lost my husband, my home, my car, and many of my possessions. I had no job, was still physically recovering from giving birth and was overwhelmed with the demands of a newborn. I was shattered, and I had nothing. It was then, and only then, that I discovered that in Jesus I had everything I ever needed…
Song Story - Wilderness
I have spent the last twenty four years struggling with food and eating disorders. God is my healer, my deliverer, and continues to encourage me about who He is. Unfortunately, though I have pursued every available avenue of healing, I have yet to see this particular deliverance. I believe that God has promised my healing, but I continue to wait for the fulfillment of His promise. And in the mist of that, I vascillate between hope and despair. "Wilderness" is written from that place.
